BIO
Omar Mukhtar is an innovative pop artist from Lahore, Pakistan, whose music transcends genres, blending influences from Pakistani music, Bollywood, and Western pop. Growing up, he was heavily influenced by the Pakistani rock scene of the early 2000s and the rich melodies of Bollywood music. Entering his teens, he discovered the personal storytelling styles of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, inspiring him to write songs based on his life experiences. One of his most successful tracks, “Jia,” has garnered over 5 million streams on Spotify.
Omar’s dream of becoming a pop star ignited when he was just ten years old. His journey has been one of perseverance and learning, filled with moments that have shaped his unique musical identity. In eighth grade, he began writing original music, firmly believing that true success lies in original compositions. His talent quickly gained attention during school competitions where he performed his original songs, including “Jia,” which built a strong anticipation even before its official release.
In 2015, after connecting with Hassan Omer at Walnut Studios, Omar released his first three songs under their banner. This marked the beginning of a journey unlike any other, leading to numerous offers for shows and concerts. Performing at every opportunity, big or small, Omar honed his craft of entertaining and engaging audiences, mastering the art of making each performance memorable.
Omar’s debut album, Ram Pam Para (2017), featured “Jia” and showcased his versatility with songs like “Urta Tara,” exploring abstract concepts such as the relationship with God, and “Aag Laga Doun,” which delves into emotions of anger. His second album, Cherry (2023), was crafted to energize his live shows, filled with tracks designed to keep audiences engaged and entertained.
In 2023, Omar embarked on his first international tour in the UK. Despite the challenges of managing the tour independently, he successfully booked venues and promoted the shows through social media and local university Pakistani societies. Prepared to perform covers, Omar was thrilled to find that his audience consisted of core fans who knew and requested his original songs, even the less popular ones. This experience bolstered his confidence immensely.
Following his successful UK tour, Omar is now planning a world tour:
-
UK: September-October 2024
-
US: January-February 2025
-
Canada: April-May 2025
Omar is also working on his next singles, meticulously crafted to resonate with modern audiences. Understanding the importance of social media, these songs feature multiple hooks designed to create viral trends across various influencer communities. His goal is to spark a pop culture movement, positioning himself at the center of new trends and building a lasting cultural impact.
